Nepal has become the first nation in the whole world other than India, to use India's United Payment Interface (UPI) technology. This moment is being considered a milestone of achievement for India.
The international division of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), known as NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), has made a partnership deal with Nepal's Gateway Payments Service Pvt Ltd and Manam Infotech Private Limited.
“We are excited about this partnership, which will enable consumers within Nepal to transact swiftly using state-of-the-art UPI platform and deliver a seamless user experience. We are confident that this initiative will stand as a testimony to NIPL’s technological capabilities and vision of scaling our unique offerings globally.", said Ritesh Shukla, the CEO of NIPL.
The implementation of UPI in Nepal would help strengthen the digital economy in Nepal, which is said to be one of the visions of the Government of Nepal.
It would also help in the upliftment and liftoff of many businesses and other sectors that grab this opportunity.
Once implemented in Nepal, UPI would also make money transfers between India and Nepal very easy and hassle-free.
