A couple in the state of Tamil Nadu in India has recently announced on Twitter that their wedding reception would be organized in the Metaverse. The wedding will take place in a village called Sivalingapuram in Tamil Nadu.
Janaganandhini Ramaswamy and Dinesh S P are the couples who are going to hold their wedding reception globally in the Metaverse. The 'Metaverse Reception' would take place after the wedding in the 1st week of February, in which the hosts and guests would log on to their respective PCs and enjoy the reception.
One thing to note here is that Metaverse and Blockchain (the technology on which Metaverse is based) are not something new or unfamiliar to Dinesh. He is a project associate of IIT Madras and has been associated with Blockchain and cryptocurrencies for a significant amount of time. He is also a crypto miner and has been mining Ethereum for the past year.
What makes this reception much more amazing is that the whole 'virtual venue' would be Hogwarts-themed, as both the bride and the groom are big Potterheads.
This would surely be a very different kind of experience for not only the guests and hosts of the wedding but for the whole world, as Metaverse is a concept that is still in its early developmental stages and most people are not completely familiar with it.
If you thought that the number of times you would be amazed reading this article is over, you would be wrong. There is still a cherry to be put on top of the cake! Not only is the wedding reception taking place in the Metaverse, but the couple is even accepting gifts through it! According to Dinesh, they would receive their gifts through the metaverse. The gifts would be in the form of cash, gift vouchers, and even cryptocurrencies!
