NEURALINK: A CONCEPT TURNED REAL THAT IS TRYING TO CHANGE MANKIND!

Updated: Feb 20, 2022

Do you know what the most beautiful thing about Science is? It never stops or attains equilibrium. Ever wondered why is that? Because Science is such a field in which you can never say "DONE!". Every time something is discovered or invented, something new and groundbreaking follows very soon. That's the beauty of Science. Today we are going to talk about such a groundbreaking 'concept-turned-reality', which is going to force you into thinking - "WHERE ARE WE HEADED?"

WHAT IS NEURALINK?

Okay, so let's get to the point. Ever thought of controlling things just by THINKING ABOUT THEM? Well, that is what Neuralink lets you do! You get up in the morning and you turn your alarm clock off just by thinking about it! (well, waking up was never easy). You begin to operate your phone without touching it! Yes, just by thinking about it. You decide to watch Television, and switch through channels by thinking about it. You just name it! Neuralink gets it done! How? Let's see.

HOW DOES NEURALINK WORK?

So how does it work? Essentially, by placing electrodes in your brain. Don't worry, as this is a procedure which demands high degree of accuracy, so it isn't and will not be done by humans. There are high-precision robots to do the job. Implants named 'LINK' are put into your brain and they are connected to many electrodes (also implanted in the brain) through Micron-scale threads.

These are connected to the motor areas of your brain to help you control things just by thinking about them! The Link is charged through 'COMPACT WIRELESS INDUCTIVE CHARGER', which is a wireless charger which charges the link from the outside. All these things form a mesh in your brain, which does the MAGIC!

WHAT ARE THE PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS?

While Neuralink might seem like a good experiment, it is more than that. It is not just for doing fancy mind controls, but also helpful in many other ways. Let's assume there is a person X whose legs are paralyzed. Why does any body part gets paralyzed? It is because the motor signals can't reach from the Central Nervous System (CNS) to that part of the body due to either damage in the brain or due to damage in the Motor nerves which bring the signal to that body part. Getting back to our Person X. His legs are paralyzed because the Motor nerves sending signals to his legs to move are damaged, whether in an accident, or by birth, or due to some auto-immune disorder. So, by a surgery, we attach LINKS to his brain, which will capture the signals from the brain which are to go to the legs, and then we attach attach LINKS to his legs, which wirelessly receive the signals which the LINKS from the brain would transmit wirelessly! So now Person X can move his legs just by thinking about moving them, just like a normal person does. Now how amazing is that! You will also be able to gain knowledge about anything you want, just by 'DOWNLOADING' all the information about that topic from the internet, DIRECTLY INTO YOUR BRAIN!!!!!

DRAWBACKS

Like almost every other innovation, Neuralink also has its drawbacks, for now at least. With Neuralink, your brain becomes more, shall we say, digitalized. It literally gets connected to the INTERNET, which is the biggest man-made network in the world. And anything which is on the internet, is at a potential risk of being HACKED. So yes, people may hack your brain and just download all your data of the brain to some server, or who knows, THEIR OWN BRAIN!! Now that is terrifying. But remember currently Neuralink is just an infant. As it will become more mature, it will become more secure. When it becomes available to the general public, you might even be getting an anti-viruses and anti-malwares for your BRAIN! But you already knew this was not gonna be easy, didn't you?

Whatever the case be, Neuralink was currently being tested on Pigs, and it has been a success. Now it has gained approval by FDA for human trials, so we know it is going to be real now. Currently it will be used for people with serious disorders and disabilities. Let's keep a positive attitude towards this new innovation.
