Apple is about to release its latest iOS 15.4, which will bring many new and amazing features to the iPhones, such as improved Face ID, as well as take a step further towards what is popularly known as the "Apple Ecosystem".
Face ID is used in iPhones to unlock your phone using your face. It is very different from the face unlocking feature used in android devices.
The face unlocking in android devices just scans your face in 2D and unlocks your phone.
Face ID, on the other hand, uses a separate camera known as the TrueDepth camera to unlock your phone. Face ID uses many invisible infrared rays to detect the depths in your face in 3D and then unlocks your device if everything matches properly with the face scanned earlier.
This makes Face ID much more secure than the face unlocking feature of the androids.
Since the Covid pandemic started, most of us started wearing masks. The problem was that Face ID wasn't able to detect peoples' faces when they were wearing a mask.
This happened because the Face ID sensor wasn't able to scan a large portion of peoples' faces due to the infrared waves being hindered by their masks.
Apple has finally solved this issue in the new iOS 15.4 update, which is about to be released very shortly. This feature is already available on the iOS 15 beta.
The Face ID will now focus primarily on the area around your eyes for unlocking your device through Face ID, instead of using the whole face if you are wearing a mask.
This feature will only work on iPhones with A14 bionic or later chips.
One more very awaited feature that Apple is going to bring is "Universal Control". Universal control is Apple's way of smoothing the already near-perfect workflow in the Apple ecosystem.
Using Universal Control, people would be able to use their iPads as an extension of their Macs (be it an iMac or Macbook) by keeping them next to each other.
File transferring would become very quick and general transitions would also be a lot smoother. People would be able to use their keyboard and mouse, which they use with their Mac, on the iPad too.
