The Meta-owned company Instagram has recently launched a new feature globally for its users. The company has added a Moderator option for the Instagram live streams.
This feature had been under testing since November of last year. There had been quite a few rumors by some developers that Instagram might be bringing a new feature to add moderators to live streams. This was finally confirmed by Instagram on Twitter (notice the irony).
This new feature will allow the users, live streamers to be more specific, to add a moderator to their live streams on Instagram. This moderator could be any person having an active Instagram account.
Tapping the three dots option in the comment bar of the live stream by the creator of the live stream will show an option to add a live moderator. A couple of accounts would be suggested by Instagram to add as a live moderator. The creator can also search for any Instagram account using a search bar and add that account as a live moderator.
An Instagram live moderator will hold a bunch of powers. They could remove a viewer from the live stream, turn off comments for a viewer, and even restrict a user from commenting at all! Earlier most of these powers used to rest in the hands of the live stream creators.
