The JioPhone is made only for India and will only be launching in India. There are many features unique to this phone like read-aloud and on-screen language translation for any text present on the screen.
In a Google India blog, it is written that this phone will "cater to the diverse need of the Indian consumer". The phone will also have India-centric Snapchat lenses, according to the same Google India Blog.
The CEO of Google and Alphabet Mr. Sundar Pichai said that this phone is inspired by the belief that everyone in India should benefit from the opportunities the internet creates. He also said that their team had to solve many complex engineering and design challenges to build this phone. He also said that he is excited to see how people will use this phone to make their lives better.
Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman & Managing Director, Reliance Industries said that he is delighted that Google and Jio teams have succeeded in bringing this breakthrough device to Indian consumers in time for the festival season, in spite of the current global supply chain challenges caused by the Covid pandemic. He also said that he is a firm believer in the power of the Digital Revolution to enrich, enable and empower the lives of 1.35 billion Indians. He said that he is proud that their team is bridging the gap between India and 'Bharat'.
We would have to see for ourselves whether this new JioPhone Next will be able to catch up to the hype or not. This depends on various real-life issues like the actual on-screen time of the phone, the camera, and display quality, optimizations in the 'Pragati OS', and build quality. Till then we can only hope that this phone lives up to its expectations.
